Our Golden Age of Commercial Aviation

I have more Aviation photos than I could ever show on this forum. But what the heck! I will give it a try!!!

These will be from what many of us consider our Golden Age of Airliners and of Airlines.

    The 50's 60's and 70's!!!

It was never better as far as types of Aircraft flown by all Airlines!!!

We will start with the Douglas DC-8

Elegant Lines in the Jet Age Eastern DC-8

The next four, DC-8 EC-CAM (Air Spain)

I am very much in favour of this SAL, and sure even our youngest members will appreciate the various types and recognise the fact that the birds we fly on today had some modest beginnings. Bring it on SAL and looking forward to them all mate!!

They are still around. We had a DC-8-63 go through Perth the other night with horses on board headed to the middle east (an ex Air Canada a/c) and the B727-200's (good ol' readymix (VH-RMX) in her Ansett days) only finished regular operation between Perth and Melb at the beginning of the year

    the DC-8-63

    B727

    and in her glory days
    Cheers,
    Ian
