How comforting, .........not!

I thought it was "fly the friendly skies" not "fly the sleepy skies".

Just say NO to sleeping on airplanes.

I just love the bit "I woke, don't know why?" ummm, cause of the frantic ATC calls.
Naughty ATC!

holy fcuk!!!!

I love how you put in your title that "UA pilots" fall asleep, when the NASA reports are completely anonymous, so you would never know whether it was Frontier or United or anyone else for that matter like the article states. Nothing like a little "made up" dramatic commentary. Got to love that OMG pass the word down the food chain and then what was fact turns into someones dream rumor. You should at least get your "facts" straight if you're going to post news articles.

IMO, a U.S red eye flight goes east-west, not the other way around.

I also believe that pilot's have a right to adequate rest just like the CEO's of said company.

To set the record straight, it was Frontier Airlines. It is not uncommen for one pilot to get a little shut-eye while at cruise, just so long as the other one stays awake. Thank god for autopilot, eh?

On a sidenote, I departed KBFI (Boeing Field) this morning at 0345 to KSAF (Santa Fe) 3.7 hours enroute. I was struggeling somewhere over southern Oregon/western Idaho. Thank god my cockpit is uncomfortable and I had my iPod.

Frontier is the only airline that was flying an overnight flight between BWI and DEN at the time of the report NOT United!

iPod, eh? So that's the reason so many pilots miss my calls

To answer you question... I don't normally listen to mine while flying, but I went over 18 minutes without hearing a single call on center. I was beyond tired, and needed something to help my butt stay awake. All said and done, I made maybe 12 calls on the entire flight. "Seattle center Pilatus 618JL chechin' in 270." "November 618JL Seattle Center...Roger"....15 minutes later:"Pilatus 618JL contact Salt Lake Center 128.55"..."twenty-eight-fifty-five...8Juliet Lima good morning"

It was painful.
