The Convair 340-48, construction number 120, was delivered to KLM on 10/1954 and registered PH-TGG and... Just a great little model from Aeroclassics. The Convair 340-48, construction number 120, was delivered to KLM on 10/1954 and registered PH-TGG and named after Dutch painter "Nicolaas Maes". It was shortly afterwards re-registered PH-CGG as KLM implemented a system to identify the aircraft type by registration. A year later during 1955, an upgrade package was applied to convert it to a Convair 440-48 model. After 10 years of flying to European destinations, the aircraft was transferred to ALM Antillean Airlines during 08/1964 and received registration PJ-CVA. After 4 years, the Convair went to Aviateca, the flag carrier of Guatemala as TG-AJA and flew passenger service until April 1979. After a brief period with Belize Air Cargo, it was once more sold 01/1980, this time to Aerolineas Sierra del Pacifico with US registration N3778C who flew it until 04/1981. Sold again to Aerotur of Mexico one of many cargo operators at that time to visit Opa Locka and registered XA-LOU. On 03/1987, the old Convair after 33 years of flying was purchased by Frigorifico Reyes of Bolivia and registered CP-2142. Fri-Reyes was one of the infamous Bolivian airlines which flew meat across the Andes using Convairs, Curtis C-46 and even converted B-17s. The final operator on 12/1994 became another meat transporter called Servicios Aereos Santa Ana. Sadly, on 22/05/1995, the aircraft was destroyed a year later when it crashed near San Boija after engine failure.
